What We Offer

Cleaning and Exams

Our dental team provides cleanings and exams to help keep your mouth and smile healthy. Routine preventive care is key to avoiding dental problems such as tooth decay and periodontal disease.

Dental cleanings and exams are two of the most basic yet important preventive treatments we provide at our office. Each time you visit our dental practice for a checkup, we will provide a professional teeth cleaning and dental exam to help your smile stay healthy. During your cleaning and exam, our dental team will:

  •  Clean your teeth by removing any plaque or tartar (also called dental calculus), which can lead to tooth decay and periodontal disease
  • Floss and polish your teeth for a healthy, bright smile
  • Examine your smile for signs of any damaging dental conditions or diseases

We may utilize dental X-rays to further evaluate your smile and make certain that you receive the dental care you need. Regular dental cleanings and exams are essential in maintaining good oral health, preventing cavities and gum disease, and making sure that any damaging conditions are treated as early as possible.

We recommend that you visit us every six months for a routine dental cleaning and exam. We may suggest more frequent visits if needed, and we also encourage you to contact us if you suffer from a dental emergency, pain or injury.

Dental Hygiene

Our dental professionals are committed to helping you enjoy good oral health. When you visit our office, our dentists and team review your oral hygiene with you and make recommendations on ways you can improve it.

During your time at our office, our team works hard to improve your oral health. It is essential, however, that you continue taking care of your smile at home through consistent oral hygiene. Good dental hygiene includes a number of daily habits and practices that help to keep your smile healthy and bright. Our dentist and team recommend that you follow these basic steps to help your smile stay in optimal health:

  • Brush your teeth after each meal or at least twice a day. We encourage you to use a soft-bristled toothbrush and a toothpaste that includes fluoride.
  • Floss at least once every day. The most important time to floss is just before you go to sleep at night.
  • Eat a balanced diet. Limiting your intake of very sugary and acidic foods can help to prevent tooth decay.
  • Maintain your regular visits with our dentist every six months. During these visits, we will provide a professional teeth cleaning and a thorough dental exam to make certain we provide any needed preventive or restorative treatments.

When you visit our dental team, we will review your dental hygiene habits with you and offer needed information on any additional steps you can take to further improve your oral health.

Emergency Dentistry

Midtown Dental provides emergency dentistry to restore your smile and get your oral health back on track. If you are experiencing a dental emergency, call us at (403) 228-5629 as soon as possible so that we can make arrangements for you to meet with one of our dentists and receive treatment immediately. Our team will also provide you with detailed instructions on what to do until you can meet with our dentist.

A dental emergency is a situation that requires prompt attention from a dental professional. At our office, we understand that you cannot always plan when you will need our care. If you experience a dental emergency, we encourage you to contact us as soon as possible. Our team will schedule you to meet with our dentist as soon as we are able so you can receive the care you need. We are happy to care for several types of dental emergencies, including:

  • Severe, lasting toothaches or other types of tooth pain
  • A lost dental restoration, such as a lost filling or crown
  • Damage to soft tissue in your mouth, including tongue, cheeks, lips and gums
  • A cracked or fractured tooth
  • A chipped or broken tooth
  • A partially or fully knocked-out tooth

If you suffer from one of these conditions or another type of dental emergency, please contact our office. Our team will also be able to provide you with instructions on how to take care of your smile until you are able to come to our office to meet with us. If you have experienced trauma to the head or neck, we recommend that you visit the emergency room or your general physician before coming to us, even if your smile is also damaged.

Digital Dentistry

Our dentists use digital X-rays to more closely examine your mouth and plan your treatments. This advanced imaging tool helps our dentists diagnose and treat problems in the earliest stages of development before they can cause serious damage to your teeth and supporting structures.

Digital X-rays are one of the advanced diagnostic tools we use to provide you with the best possible care. Digital radiography has changed the way we take dental X-rays by making the process faster, more comfortable and more convenient than ever before. Digital X-rays use a digital sensor to take images of your teeth, unlike traditional X-rays that use film. Digital X-rays use significantly less radiation than conventional film X-rays and require the use of no chemicals for developing the images. Our dentist can then instantly view the high-quality images on monitors right in the treatment room to provide you with efficient, accurate diagnoses and care. Our team is able to use digital radiography to identify and diagnose several types of dental problems, such as:

  • Decay in between teeth
  • Developmental abnormalities
  • Improper tooth root positioning
  • Cysts and abscesses
  • Fractures in existing fillings
  • Tumors
  • Infection in the tooth nerves
  • Bone loss

Digital dental X-rays are used to plan many kinds of dental treatment, such as oral surgery procedures, root canal treatment, dental implants, orthodontics and more.

Root Canal Therapy

Root canal therapy can save your tooth! Our skilled dentist may recommend this treatment to remove infection, decay or injured tissue from the nerves of your tooth. This prevents the need for an extraction so that you can continue using the tooth for years to come.

Commonly called a root canal, root canal treatment is a type of endodontic therapy that is often recommended if the tooth pulp and nerves become infected or damaged. This may occur if injury or decay reaches deep into the tooth, past the outer enamel layer. When left untreated, this type of infection and disease may cause the tooth to die and necessitate tooth extraction. To restore the health of the tooth and avoid the need for extraction, our skilled dentist will remove the infected and injured tissues from within the tooth, clean the tooth and fill it with a medicated material. We will then cap the tooth with a restoration, such as a dental crown, to return the tooth to its original shape and structure. In most cases, a root canal can be completed in only one or two comfortable visits to our office.

Root canal treatment has a reputation for being a painful treatment. In reality, however, root canal treatment can often be completed with minimal discomfort thanks to advanced techniques, tools and anesthesia. Our dentist and entire team work hard to provide you with a pleasant and comfortable experience each time you visit our office.
